Every student at the University of Wisconsin-Superior decided to further their education at this university for their own reasons. Nate Burke, a sophomore at UWS, decided for two main reasons, golf and being close to home.

“I picked UWS because I had some friends here that played on the golf team and they said they liked it, and the fact that it was close to home sealed the deal for me,” Burke said.

The sophomore is originally from Duluth, Minnesota, and has been
playing golf for many years. Burke said, “I have been playing golf since I was about 5 years old, but not competitively until I was in the 7th grade.”

On top of being on the golf team, Burke is also balancing the course load of being a communications major with a minor in sports management.
When Burke isn’t out on the course, you can find him hanging out in the
Marcovich Wellness Center on campus.

“My favorite spot on campus is the Marcovich Wellness Center. There is so much offered in that building. You could read and get some studying done, or you can be active in the gym, fieldhouse, or weight room they have,” Burke said.

In his free time Burke likes to hang out with friends or go see his dog. Burke states, “My dog and I are super close.” Burke is most thankful for his family, friends, and sports.

In the future, the Twin Ports local has hopes and goals of working for a professional sports team or organization.
