When deciding on a college, University of Wisconsin-Superior sophomore Mya Holmquist looked for a small environment where she could continue her athletic endeavors. “I wanted to go to a smaller school and continue to play soccer,” said Holmquist.

The Buffalo, Minnesota native is in her second year of school at UWS where she is majoring in exercise science and minoring in sports management.

Holmquist is also a member of the UWS women’s soccer team playing the forward position. Holmquist’s hobbies and interests include watching
sports and playing soccer.

Her favorite musician is Bailey Zimmerman and her favorite food is
pasta. A dream vacation for Holmquist if money was no issue would be a visit to the Caribbean Islands.

Holmquist spends her leisure time sleeping and her favorite place on the UWS campus is the Marcovich Wellness Center. A goal of Holmquist’s is to make it into grad school for her exercise science major. Holmquist is most grateful for her family, friends, and team.

Her greatest passion in life is soccer. “Being on a team that feels like family,” said Holmquist when asked what she most loves about soccer.
The love of the sport has carried her to this point.

Holmquist won the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for women’s soccer for the week of September 19-25, 2022. Holmquist hopes to continue her excellence in school and on the field for the rest of her time at UWS.
