It is with great pleasure that we present to you the 100th anniversary edition of the Promethean student newspaper. This publication over the past century has had several names and formats over the decades, but what didn’t change was the coverage of the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

I’m honored to be a part of the team that has worked hard to carry on the tradition of making this a publication that you can be proud of. Without the efforts of this current staff, we would not be celebrating today. With their hard work and dedication, we have now reached 100 years of service to this campus.

I would like to take this time to honor all of the past student staff members that have helped us achieve this milestone. Without the efforts and visions of those students, along with their dedicated advisers, faculty, and staff this would not have been possible. To all of the alumni of the Peptomist, Promethean, and Stinger; the tradition you built continues today and we ask you to stay connected to us now more than ever.

This publication would not have been possible without you, the consumer of UWS news. To the local businesses and community members who have supported this publication, we thank you as well. It is my dream that someday, when we celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Promethean, that someone will look back and recognize this special staff and the unique individuals that kept this newspaper not only going into 2020 but thriving well into the future.

UW-Superior has 126 years of service to the community of Superior, and the city of Superior hs been supporting this university for the same amount of time. The region of the Twin Ports and Northwestern Wisconsin has a lot to be proud of, and our coverage of this special area will continue for decades to come. This newspaper might have a different look or feel or delivery method over the next 100 years, but what won’t change is the commitment to serving you, the students and community of UW-Superior. We want and need to tell your stories to the rest f the world, and through technology, we can now do that. The staff of a century ago could never have imaged doing this.

Thank you again for the first 100 years, and we will do our best to make sure we can celebrate the next 100. To all those that came before us – thank you! To all those coming in the future – welcome!
