The UW-Superior women’s tennis team dropped an 8-1 decision to St. Mary’s and 8-1 to St. Thomas on Saturday and Sunday evening, respectively.
Junior Kitana Honkola (Eveleth, Minn./Eveleth-Gilbert) earned the Yellowjackets’ only point against SMU with a three-set victory in singles. Freshman Breanna Wienen (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln) earned the Yellowjackets’ only match win on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Yellowjacket men dropped a 6-3 decision to the Cardinals and fell, 8-1, to the Tommies on Sunday.
Freshman Michael Janes (Bismark, N.D./Legacy) won his debut over Robbie Sobczak of SMU. Janes also bested David Holliday of the Tommies in three sets.
Superior returns to action when it hosts Concordia (Minn.) next Sunday, Feb. 16. The men’s action starts at 10:00 a.m. with the women at noon.
