The Superior & Sage Hotel caught fire on Feb. 23. The Superior Fire Department (SFD) responded at 11 p.m. and they officially put out the fire at 4:06 a.m. Tuesday morning. According to a press release by SFD, a large exterior fire was spreading into the roof structure and created an estimated $1 million in damages.
Over the last few months, the hotel changed its name from Superior Inn to Superior & Sage Hotel along with undergoing renovations. The Hotel is located on Hammond Avenue near the base of Blatnik Bridge next to Kwik Trip.

All occupants were assisted out of the fire, and a total of 16 Superior Fire Fighters and 3 Duluth Fire Fighters were on scene. SFD states that even with a partial collapse, no fire fighters were injured. One occupant got medical attention from the Mayo ambulance.
SFD asks the public to avoid the area at this time.
