The University of Wisconsin-Superior has been known for being a military friendly school. This year was the 15th year in a row of claiming the title Military Friendly® Gold School by G.I. Jobs®.

Receiving the G.I. Jobs title means that the campus is recognized for the efforts to assist military personnel, veterans and their family members in completing a college education.

Salisa Hochstetler, the UW-Superior Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, said, “this ranking shows that during the past 15 years, our institution has invested in serving our veterans and military-connected students.”

UW-Superior received this award by having high marks related to its academic policies and compliance, admissions and orientation, culture, commitment, and financial aid and assistance.

Public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey are what is used to evaluate the different institutions to decide who earns the Military Friendly School designation.

Military Friendly found that, “UW-Superior is dedicated to assisting military members and provides services that meet their needs in transitioning to higher education. UWS offers a Veteran’s Transition class to ensure every veteran has the tools and support to succeed at UWS.”

UWS also has a Veteran and Nontraditional Student Center (VNSC) that provides a wide range of support for student veterans of all ages. The final overall ratings were determined by combining the institution’s survey response set and public data sources, within a logic-based scoring assessment. They measure the institution’s ability to meet thresholds for student retention, graduation, job placement, loan repayment, persistence, and loan default rates for specifically all students who are veterans.
