Love was in the air as this year’s Valentine’s Day was rocked by the University of Wisconsin Jazz Ensemble directed by Greg Kehl Moore. The community and student event was held in Great Room A of the Yellowjacket Union from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.

Current Students and Alumni dancing in Great Room A
Many people of varying ages attended and showed off their love of swing dancing. The fast paced songs were evenly matched with the fast paced footwork that was exhibited on the dance floor.
Brock Phernetton sang the ever so classic song “Fly Me to the Moon” with only three hours notice as the original performer was out at last minute. Phernetton’s rendition of the song was met with concert hall wide praise as he shocked the hall.
Another impressive appearance came by Cate Peterson who is still a junior in High School. She sang “Every Day (I Have the Blues)”.
The UWS Jazz Ensemble played other classics such as “Jump, Jive, and Wail”, “Come Fly with Me”, “Moonlight Serenade”, and “Woodchopper’s Ball” to close the show.

University of Wisconsin-Superior’s Jazz Ensemble
“Woodchopper’s Ball” was the perfect close to the night as it had even the most static audience attendees get out and dance on the dance floor with their loved one this couple-filled night. Couples more swinging left and right making it a wonder how no collision of dancers happened. The piece also hald fun solo’s where individual UWS Jazz Ensemble members could shine.
