BECKER, Minn. – Senior Ally Busick (Osceola, Wis./Osceola) matched her season-best score of 86 in the final round of the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference championship, helping the Yellowjackets finish third at Pebble Creek Golf Club on Saturday.
UWS shot 377 to finish with a championship total of 277-over-par 1,171, climbing from fourth at the start of the day, Busick, who tied for fifth overall at 53-over 269, carded seven pars in her final round. She earned All-UMAC honors for the second time in her career, also being recognized in 2018.
Freshman Bryce Burris (East Grand Forks, Minn./East Grand Forks Senior) fired a season-best 89 on Saturday to finish 13th at 58-over 274. The round, which was four strokes lower than both her first- and second-round efforts, featured five pars. Junior Sky Cobiness (Rainy River, Ontario/Warroad (Minn.)) and freshmen Kenzie Tuura (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern) and Delaney Koecher (Kerrick, Minn./Barnum) rounded out the Yellowjackets’ five-player team. Cobiness tied for 19th, shooting 107 Saturday for 301 for the weekend. Tuura was 21st, posting 101 in the final round for a 304 total and Koecher was 22nd at 309. She also shot 101 to close the championship.
Northwestern won the team title, leading wire-to-wire. The Eagles carded 78-over-par 1,073 for the championship, nipping Minnesota Morris by one stroke. Superior finished one shot ahead of Northland, Bethany Lutheran’s Hayley Thompson (86-86-78-250) shot 78 to claim medalist honors by three over Payton Sierra of Minnesota Morris.
