DECORAH, Iowa –Ben Keller scored two goals and added an assist as No. 18 Luther shut out the UW-Superior men’s soccer team, 4-0, on Sunday, Oct. 6.

Playing its second match in as many days on the road, the Yellowjackets were bottled up defensively and shut out for the first time in 12 outings. UWS managed only eight shots, four of which were on target.

Luther (8-2-1) opened the scoring in the 12th minute as Keller finished a pass from Marc-Arthur Shapiro. Marcos Vila also assisted on the goal.

Luther doubled its advantage in the 24th minute when Faydane Ouro-Akondo buried the rebound of a Vila shot into the corner of the net past UWS goalkeeper Payton Anderson (Red Wing, Minn./Red Wing).

Keller scored his second of the match in the 31st minute, gathering his own rebound and beating Anderson to make it 3-0.
The Norse added a fourth in the 61st minute. Keller took the initial shot on the play and Will Overberg put home the rebound for the final margin.

The loss dropped UWS to 7-3-2 on the season.

Fred Nudel made three saves in the shutout for Luther, improving to 2-0-0 in net. Anderson stopped four shots, falling to 1-1-0.

Superior returns home Wednesday, Oct. 9 hosting North Central in Upper Midwest Athletic Conference play at NBC Spartan Sports Complex. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m.
