ST. PAUL, Minn. – For the second consecutive week, UW-Superior senior Joey Cummings (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) has been named Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Player of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Cummings posted a 75.3 scoring average in three rounds over two events last week. He shot 78 in the final round of the Frank Wrigglesworth Blugold Invitational Monday, tying for 12th overall to lead the team to fifth place.

He then carded a final-round 1-under-par 71 at the Benedictine Midwest Invitational, vaulting 25 spots on the leaderboard to tie for eighth overall. Cummings helped UWS finish fourth in that 36-team field.

Cummings holds a 74.86 average in seven competitive rounds so far this season. He won the UMAC Preview Sept. 5 and collected two top-five finishes.

The Yellowjackets are back in action at the SJU Fall Invitational Saturday and Sunday. Play opens at Greystone Golf Club in Sauk Centre, Minn. Saturday at 1 p.m., and moves to Blackberry Ridge Golf Club in Sartell Sunday at 9 a.m.
