The Minnesota Vikings have kicked off the 2016-2017 season in their new stadium, The U.S. Bank Stadium and the fans have been going wild, but with good reason.

No one thought that the Vikings would have started off their season being undefeated with five wins and no loses. This record is on top of losing their starting quarterback, Teddy Bridgewater, and starting running back, Adrian Peterson. After the doing some deals with the Philadelphia Eagles, they required quarterback Sam Bradford for a first round draft pick. Many fans were skeptical about this trade, but so far, it seems to be paying off.

The last time the Vikings started a season off at five and zero was in 2009, when they lost the NFC Championship game against the New Orleans Saints. If this season is any indication of the season before, it’s going to be an exciting year to say the least.

However, this weekend was not the usual for the Vikings. They receive their first lost by Sam Bradford’s previous team, the Philadelphia Eagles. The final score was 21 to 10. There were a total of four turnovers for the Vikings offense and special teams. It was the first game that Bradford threw an interception since becoming a Viking.

There have been four Superbowl appearances by the Vikings; however, they still have yet to bring home that prestigious trophy to their ever loyal fans. They’ve been there through thick and thin, ups and downs. This is Minnesota’s year to win it all.

“Purple Reign” is the new nickname for the Vikings defense. It used to be the “Purple People Eaters,” but that nickname was from the late 1960’s to late 1970’s. That time has come and gone, but now it’s time for the “Purple Reign” to take over.

The Vikings currently lead the NFC North in front of the Green Bay Packers who have a four and one record. Their one lose was at the hands of the Vikings.

Next game on the schedule for the Vikings is against the Chicago Bear, who are currently one and six, also, last in the NFC division. They play one of the Monday Night Football events on October 31, at 7:30 PM central time.
