What stuck out about theater for Pearson was the cycle of “we build it up, we play on it, then we tear it down.” He finds this concept very “therapeutic.”

When presented with the idea of being a student director for a one act, he was given the challenge of finding and directing “already written media.” He decided on “Fore play: The Art of the Fugue” by David Ives, this one act follows a man named Chuck and who goes on three dates throughout his life. Chuck has this mindset of himself being this “Casanova” and is full of ego. On his last date, he finds himself humbled and is hit with the realization of how he has been acting.

During his time in a director’s role, Pearson has found challenges with expressing his vision for the one act and finding a do-able time for everyone participating. However, his biggest takeaway is that he enjoys working with his peers on these kinds of “creative projects.”

Pearson said, “Come watch the soon directed shows on November 21,22,23.”
