“Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build goodwill? Will it be beneficial?” said Tucker Briggs, chair of the Rotaract club at UW-Superior, leading the four-way test.

You might be asking yourself, what is Superior Rotaract, and why is it important to me? Superior Rotaract is open to UWS students and Twin Port community members between the ages of 18 and 26. The Superior Rotaract is a satellite club of the Twin Port Rotaract. This Rotaract is sponsored by Rotary clubs in Duluth and Superior. “The purpose of our club is to provide an opportunity for young people to enhance the knowledge and skills that will assist them in their personal development and address the physical and social needs of the community,” said Briggs. It’s a special opportunity presented to UWS students and community members to form connections, which students did at the event. Members from other Rotaract and Rotary clubs were present, along with UWS students and community members. The current members of the club are Chair Tucker Briggs, Secretary Hunter Willis, Treasurer Drew Ketola, Service Project/Public Image Chair Hayden Wilson, Primary Advisor Ephraim Nikoi, and Secondary Advisors Sakib Mahmad and Nicky Wilson.

“Rotaract means rotary in action, and anybody who has come across the world knows that we are people of action, that means we try to do a lot of this in our communities, whether it is doing service projects, eradicating polio around the world, making sure that we are supporting the leadership developments of young people. We do a lot of things, whereas water sanitation, we have all kinds of projects all around the world,” said Nikoi. Pizza and beverages were provided for all attendees, and the club plans on doing two service projects a month.

If interested, be on the lookout as this club gets up and running. Consistent meeting times and places have not yet been decided, but contact board members if interested.
