UW-Superior Yellowjacket Athletics held its first Cenovus women in leadership program on Wednesday April 3, for all women athletes in the northland. This event looks to develop the next generation of female leaders at UW-Superior and in the community.

Guests could enjoy dinner before keynote speaker Lindsay Whalen, a six-time WNBA all-star, took the stage. Whalen spoke about her experience in sports and all the challenges she had to overcome as an athlete during her career.

UW-Superior’s athletic director Nick Bursik spoke about the importance an event like this has for the community. “In this room we have youth, we have current athletes, we have community members. Really a wide range on individuals here tonight and it’s all been growing together and helping foster the future generation of female leaders,” said Bursik.

UW-Superior looks to make the Cenovus women in leadership program an annual event with new quest speakers every year to continue to build the next generation of female leaders in athletics and the community.
