The University of Wisconsin-Superior held a celebration for Indigenous Peoples Day on Monday, October 11 at the Maawanji’idiwin – “The Place Where We Come Together” Medicine Wheel and Community Gathering Area. Two UWS students, Dillion Krisik (left) and Sami Keller (right), performed with the Chi Waagimin Bay drum group. Speaking at the event were Diversity and Inclusion Specialist Madison Hale, Dean of Students Harry Anderson, Chancellor Renee Wachter, Assistant Director – Equity, Diversity, Inclusion Salisa Hochstetler, City Council Representative Jenny Van Sickle, and Assembly District 73 Representative Nick Milroy. Following the ceremony the Woodland Sky Native American Dance Company presented a performance in Old Main’s Thorpe Langley Auditorium.
