UW-Superior Career Services, in conjunction with the University of Minnesota Duluth and the College of St. Scholastica, will be virtually hosting the Head of the Lakes Job and Internship fair on Thursday, March 4 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.

The job and internship fair will allow students and alumni from all three universities to explore career options, network with local and national businesses, and learn skills that employers are looking for in a one-to-one or group environment. At the time of writing, 63 employers will be attending the fair to meet with students and alumni. Some participating employers include Essentia Health, Menard Inc. and Dart Transit Company.

Registration for the job fair opened on Feb. 11 through Handshake, UW-Superior’s web recruitment system. Students are able to register for meetings with individual businesses and companies on Handshake to ensure that they meet with their desired employers. Drop-in sessions are also being offered to students.

To ensure that students are prepared for the job and internship fair, UWS Career Services is offering 10-to-30-minute virtual workshops on resumes, cover letters, interviews and LinkedIn throughout the remainder of February. If you would like to see any sessions you may have missed, recordings are available on the Career Services YouTube page.

Haley Carr, the Student Service Coordinator with Career Services and coordinator of the Head of the Lakes Job and Internship Fair, said that students should do several things to make sure they are prepared for the fair. “Make sure your Handshake profile is updated, that you’ve read the guide to attending the virtual fair .pdf on the bottom of the event page, and that you’ve done your research on the companies.”

For more information on events hosted by Career Services, make sure to keep an eye on the student digest and your campus email account. Otherwise, you can contact career services or visit their webpage. Although the Career Service office in Swenson 1061 is currently closed due to COVID-19 protocols, weekly Zoom drop-in sessions are held every Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
