Pride can only persist and continue if we elevate the voices of people of color, particularly in the queer community, because it’s the voices of those existing in multiple marginalized communities who are the most unheard.

I’m always learning more about myself. Learning to love oneself more, despite genitals that don’t coincide with my person, that are a hindrance if anything, that don’t portray who I really am.

A good friend of mine, another nonbinary individual, has worn a beard for as long as I’ve known them, going on four or five years now. Of course, without prior knowledge, most people will denote us as male, using he/him/his pronouns, and think nothing of it.

There’s harmful diction, and then there’s the normalization of said diction.

The language of hate, though, is learned socially. And by equal remark, can also be unlearned.
