Coming off the team’s trip to Florida, the UW-Superior Baseball Team opened up conference play with their first home games of the 2025 season.

The Yellowjackets were able to pick up three victories down in Florida. Two against Beloit College and the other against Roger Williams. The Yellowjackets suffered a few close losses down in the sunshine state as they lost two games by only one run and another by two.

Now that the trip down to Florida was over, they quickly turned around to open UMAC play against Northland College over in Duluth at Wade Stadium.
On the mound in the conference opener was Ben Welle and he was nothing short of phenomenal for UWS. Welle pitched all nine innings for the Yellowjackets only giving up two hits and one walk while striking out four Lumberjack Batters ultimately allowing UWS to take the game 5-0.

The next day the two teams would face off again this time over at NBC Spartan Sports Complex in Superior for a double header.

Payton Steiner launched a two-run home run giving them the lead and few batters later Max Howell launched at three run shot to extend the lead.

From there the Yellowjackets took care of Northland 13-1 and in the second game of the doubleheader the Yellowjackets dominated taking down Northland 13-3.

For their second series of conference play the Yellowjackets took on Marin Luther. In the first game of the series the Yellowjackets were carried by another strong performance from Ben Welle going the full nine innings while giving up two runs giving the Yellowjackets a 5-2 victory.

In their home series of the season the Yellowjackets would welcome in the team that sent that home last seasons that being Crown College.

In game one of the series the Yellowjackets and Polars would fight back and forth with Yellowjackets taking a lead into the ninth inning. However, a home run from Crown would send the game to extras and in the first frame of free baseball the Polars launched a two-run home run giving them the 8-6 victory.

The next day an offensive explosion would occur as the Polars would take game one of a doubleheader 18-10 and in game two the Yellowjackets offense struggled to scrape a run despite many opportunities ultimately falling 5-2. Their conference record now sits at 6-3 with still four series remaining in the regular season.
