The UW-Superior men’s soccer team had a historic season in their 2024 campaign. They’ve earned their eighth consecutive Upper Midwest Athletic Conference championship and a trip to the NCAA Division III tournament.

However, the Yellowjackets achieved something for the first time in program history. After taking down North Park 1-0 and the defending national champion St. Olaf in penalty kicks, the Jackets found themselves in their first Sweet Sixteen appearance, where they faced Amherst.
In the Sweet Sixteen match up, the Yellowjackets went back and forth with Amherst for the first 30 minutes before Amherst would score. Shortly into the second half, Amherst would tack on another goal, doubling their lead.
The Yellowjackets wouldn’t go away quietly, adding to the scoring after Josh Bellamy netted a penalty kick to get the Yellowjackets within one. Later in the second half, the Yellowjackets would add another off of an Aaron Shartin-Folkert goal, sending the game to a pivotal overtime.
The Yellowjackets would not be able to strike in the overtime period; with just over a minute left in the second overtime, Amherst would sink the game winning goal, sending them home from the tournament.
For the Yellowjackets, the team finishes their season at an overall record of 18-4-3 and seconds away from a potential trip to the Elite Eight.
