The University of Wisconsin-Superior students were able to network at the UWS Career & Internship Fair. It was on Feb. 27 and located in the Yellowjacket Union on the second floor. It was another successful event held at UWS, not only for the students but for the employers as well. Employers use this opportunity to help promote their workplace to students.
At the fair, students were able to discover job and internship opportunities, explore different career opportunities, learn about future openings that the companies could have that match their skill set, and build relationships with employers around the community not only for the present but also for the future. Students were also able to take free professional headshots at the fair.

Local companies like Superior Choice Credit Union and AMSOIL were among the companies in attendance from the Twin Ports. Both companies found this event very useful to the students, the community, and themselves. SCCU District Manager Josephine Yoki and Human Resources Specialist Sara Finley were there representing SCCU. “We just fulfilled four internships due to some of the feedback we got at the event last year. We do have open positions that we are encouraging people to apply for because we love our local students, and we actually have three college students on the teller line. We have multiple within other departments as well, so we love working hand in hand with UWS,” said Yoki. SCCU does have a connection with UWS with Superior Choice Credit Union Stadium. “We have a strong partnership with UW-Superior, so it’s very important that we’re here,” said Finley.

AMSOIL was also enthusiastic about the event and excited to meet UWS students who are looking to start their careers. “We have had a lot of internships like we’ve definitely had students from UWS as well as UMD, and honestly, this is just a good connecting point to put our name out there and also provide opportunities to do with the community side,” said Erin Vankoeveering, a human resources coordinator at AMSOIL. “Building a reputation about working with the students in kind of continued education for students,” said Vankoeveering.
